Learn

The Newbiggin Maritime Centre is passionate about offering engaging, creative and unique learning activities for schools, community groups and families.

Based in an exciting by-the-sea location just north of the Tyne we are perfectly placed to offer and facilitate outside of the classroom learning activities around multiple themes. Some of the subject areas we cover are science, history, nature and ecology and geography.

We can offer facilitated learning activities for schools, community groups and families. We also run a programme of bookable learning sessions and workshops. We recommend that you come and visit us in our unique location but if that is not possible we are more than happy to come to you!

Summer Family Learning

Make and take Mary Joicey

If you are visiting us this summer then make sure to plan time to park-take in our make and take Mary Joicey activity. The Mary Joicey lifeboat is a key item of our collection and this activity allows you to make your very own Mary Joicey to take home.

Name our 2 Sea Explorers!

Thank you to all who entered the competition. We had great fun sifting through your entries and because the quality of entries was so good we had a lot of trouble coming to a final decision.

But we are very proud to announce that Chloe (age 9), from Year Group 4 at New Delaval Primary, is the winner of our Name Our Sea Explorers Competition. Well done Chloe, and welcome home to:
